cowboys and indians.

I am so fortunate to have friends who enjoy photography as much as I do. Taking pictures of my friends is a great way for me to practice my skills and at the same time showcase how amazing these people are! For this shoot, I took photos of my two good friends Elise and Haley in Battle Creek. The girls actually came up with the concept, and I was all for it. We drove out into the country roads and randomly stopped at a hill that looked nice. After the first location, we found another great site for the shoot, an abandoned shack. It was perfect for the vibe I was trying to send in the pictures. This was actually one of my first "themed" sessions, and I loved how I was able to have creative control of the stories that I wanted to tell in each shot. I wanted the photos to have depth in their meaning, not just look nice. Of course half of that meaning is still in my head and may never be realized by others viewing them, but it was still great to have that dynamic while shooting the photos. Enjoy! (They are in reverse order from when I shot them)

family.

What better second post than to share with you all the people that have been with me my entire life?

I am so grateful for my family and the impact they have on my life. These four have put up with my antics and stages of growing into the person I am today for 21 years. I really don't know how they survived handling me, but I am lucky they did.

How beautiful is my family?

a photographer's playground.

This is it. I've finally buckled down on my summer to-do list and made a blog for my photography. Ever since I finished my blog from my four months studying abroad in Paris, (you can click here to check that one out...go ahead, I'll still be here) I have wanted to make a new blog posting all the photos I take in my average day, considering the camera has started to become my third eye.

Now that I'm starting to see life through a lens, I thought sharing it on a blog would be fitting for everyone to view and read. Yes... I said read. I will, of course, be adding in posts on random thoughts, because let's face it...it's my blog!

It's my desire to make people feel connected. Whether that be helping them see how beautiful they truly are or allowing a person to catch a glimpse of the inspiring creation in the world, I hope that each person or place that I photograph will be looked at as wonderful in their own light.

And now after that cheesy blurb, I introduce you to george.flattery photography. I want you to take a moment from your life, get into my shoes, and see the way I see things- through my lens.

I end this first post with a photograph of my beautiful baby niece, Georgia Grace. I'm such a proud Uncle!
